Hamfest Update

We have a downloadable flyer available for the 2012 Hamfest!  The Hamfest date has been set for June 2nd, 2012, so mark your calendars and we hope to see you in Tedrow.  The Fulton County Amateur Radio Club holds a Hamfest and Tailgate Party on the first Saturday in June.  Our location is the Roth Family Woodlot at 101 Hill Avenue in Tedrow, OH (just 2 miles west of Turnpike exit 34 on County Rd J).  The Hamfest runs from 8am to 1pm with a talk-in on 147.195+.

A summary of the FCARC meeting notes for February 20th, 2012:

The meeting was called to order at 7:35pm with 23 members in attendance.  We are glad to have such a great turnout for these meetings, it certainly helps shape the direction of the club. Introductions were made and minutes from the previous meeting as well as the treasurer's report were read and accepted.

Committee reports follow:

Education: The VE Team held a regular testing session at the end of January, with one person in attendance, passing their Extra class license.  KB8ELG reported that the Technician classes are going well at the Delta Public Library.   We have three participants in the free class, and he has confidence in their ability to pass the class next Saturday.  Conducting the class with KB8ELG are KC8UOM and KD8KBU.  Testing next week will be at 1;00pm at the Delta Public Library.  While we advertised 12:00pm, we are attempting to push it back an hour to give the tech class attendees an extra hour for study.

The next club meeting will be held on February 20th at the County Administration Building (same as the Drivers License Bureau), 152 S. Fulton St, Wauseon at 7:30pm.

Notes to pass along:

- Technician License classes will be conducted February 11th, 18th, and 25th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Delta Public Library.  I believe we have at least three committed to taking the class, and possibly five.  Please reply back to me if you know of anyone else interested in participating.
- VEC testing will still be on the last Saturday, but the location and have changed to the Delta Public Library at 12:00pm to coincide with the end of the tech class.
- The Henry County EMA is hosting NWS Skywarn Storm Spotting training on Tuesday March 13th at 7 PM. The training will be presented at the Henry County EMA EOC located at 1847 Oakwood Ave (County Rd 13) in the old Walmart Plaza. There is no need to pre-register.

Amateur Radio popularity has been growing in the past few years, with an all time high of more then 700,000 active licensed operators in the USA.  The Fulton County Amateur Radio Club is organizing a free entry level Amateur Radio license class to help those new to Ham Radio prepare for the license exam.  The three Saturday class takes place on February 11th, 18th, and 25th at the Delta Public Library from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.  Official VEC testing will be available at the end of the third Saturday.  The club is providing all study materials for the class, however we are limited to five participants. While the class sessions are free, the test session does have a required FCC fee of $15.00. Contact class@k8bxq.org for details or to register.

January Meeting Notes

Hello everyone, here are some notes from the club meeting this evening:

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm with 22 members in attendance. Introductions were made as we had several new faces in attendance.  Minutes from the previous meeting and the treasurer's report were read and accepted.

Committee reports follow:

Education: We had five individuals for testing at the end of December.  The team issued passing grades for three new Extra class operators, one new General, and one new Technician.  KA8KDS wanted to welcome Tom Servoss (KC8UOM) to the VE Team.  Tom recently upgraded to Extra and immediately went out and got his ARRL VEC accreditation.

The next club meeting will be held on January 16th at the County Administration Building (same as the Drivers License Bureau), 152 S. Fulton St, Wauseon.  The club meeting will be at 7:30pm.  This is the first meeting of 2012 which means officer elections will be held and membership renewals for 2012  are due.  Renewal letters were sent in December, if you did not receive one, please let me know.  Your membership fees help offset the cost of running the club and your continued support is greatly appreciated.
