June 20, 2022 FCARC MEETING

6/20/22: The meeting was called to order at 19:37 pm by Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG) with 17 members in attendance, introductions were made and the pledge of allegiance was given by all.

Silent Key: None

Members in Distress: None

Members in need: None

Old Business: Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG) discussed a routine service visit to the repeater site. Whilst there, it was discovered the Pre-Amplifier Deck had died. Servicing this particular unit will not likely be an inexpensive repair. The search has begun to find a technical outfit to exact said repairs

Hamfest: Held June 4, 2022 at the “Wood Lot” was deemed a success. The event yielded a gross profit of $560. Outstanding expenses for said event were $96.53 owed to Ed for portable lavatory. Ken (KG8FM) motioned to reimburse and (KE8REG) seconded. A unanimous vote by those present carried the motion. Kim Allen (KE8ITJ) is still owed for the expense of the HT door prize but was not in attendance. Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG) submitted a full expense report for the event.

Field Day: Preliminary set up 6/24. June 25 and 26. Woodlot confirmed. The Club’s Generator is functional. Norm volunteered the use of a 10KW diesel genset. The club decided to decline said use in favor of exercising our own unit. VE testing will be held in advance of Field Day at 9:00am Saturday at the Administration Building in Wauseon. Scheduled hours of operation will be from June 24, 2022 at 14:00 and conclude on Sunday June 25, 2022 at 14:00. Camping setup may begin Friday.

Field Day Events: Specific Bands of Operation were discussed. Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG) mentioned having a specific rig set up for 6M operation. Craig, if able to attend, will be manning an FT8 rig. Dave Cass (TUX) volunteered to be the go to guy for an impromptu “Get On The Air” (GOTA) station for aspiring and lower level Hams. A 2M Sideband operation was also discussed. The club has opted for a “communal/bring a dish to pass” meal plan this year. Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG) will be bring a big “chunk-o-ham” via Sobaleski’s. No refrigeration is available on site, so attendees are advised to bring non-perishables or adequate cooler capacity to sustain themselves and their food and beverage choices. It was also discussed that our illustrious president may conduct the first installment of his previously postponed Directional Tracking/Foxhunt training seminars at Field Day. Event participants ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to bring copious amounts of personal insect repellent! The more DEET the better! Do not leave a pound of flesh at Field Day due to those pesky mosquitos! There will be millions more of those in attendance than humans. Be prepared!

Upcoming Events:

July 2nd, Swanton Fireworks: Volunteers are needed from the club to assist in event parking. Five club members volunteered their time to do such.

September 10th, Ohio State Parks On The Air (OSPOTA): A pavilion at Harrison Lake State Park is be secured.

September 24th, Lodges On The Air: Details to follow.

Treasurers Report: No suitable finance reports are available to TUX due to the woeful treatment by Farmers and Merchants Bank. They have not been willing to set up current club trustees to file signature cards or receive current financial statements. An attempt will be made to visit the Archbold Saturday June 24th by Brian, TUX, and Gretchen to resolve this issue. If this attempt fails, further discussion will be had in regards to moving to a different financial institution.

Motion to Adjourn: KD8MNG so motioned and KG8FM seconded. Membership voted to adjourn at 20:32.
