6/17/24: The meeting was called to order at the Wauseon Municipal Building Firemen's Training Room, 230 Clinton Street, Wauseon, OH 43567 at 7:30 pm by Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG). 17 members and guests were in attendance, introductions were made and the Pledge of Allegiance was given by all.

Treasurer's Report: reported by KB8ELG and KE8ITJ. Motion to accept: KC8PCU and K8SLB. Bills to report: Outreach cards $88.83 by KE8OKA. Motion to approve: KE8BHW and KE8UJA. Stamps $27.20 by KE8OKA. Motion to accept: AA8YY and KE8VFR. Sign enhancements $23.08 by KE8BHW. Motion to accept: WB8ZOI/KE8ITJ. All approved to reimburse. 

Summer Hamfest 6/1/24. Held at Woodlot in Tedrow. Successful event. 

Summer Field Day 6/22-23/24 at Woodlot. Start time 2:00 PM (1800 UTC Saturday-2059 UTC Sunday). Come to socialize or contest. FCARC owns our own generator– KE8BHW or KB8ELG will bring. Potluck/ Catered? Pizza?

Discussion about having FCARC table at various events to spark interest and conversation, and acquiring an 8’ FCARC tablecloth. KE8OKA reports the price at 3Cord is ~$150. Jan Tropf has offered to pay for the tablecloth out of gratitude for assisting Wauseon Police Department with various events. 

Parade assistance: 

  • Saturday June 22 Parade in Wauseon. Arrive at Biddle Park at 10:00 am. 6-7 people are requested.
  • Saturday June 29 Threshers Parade. 9:30 AM
  • Saturday June 29 Swanton Fireworks
  • Thursday July 11 Crosley Parade 6:00 PM
  • Saturday July 13 Delta Chicken Fest.  ~10:00 AM

Ham and Coffee (mobile HF) was held Saturday June 8 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Independence Dam State Park in Defiance, OH, Clevenger Shelter House. The next Ham and Coffee (mobile HF) will be Saturday July 13 from 12:00PM to 3:00PM at Delta Reservoir. 

70th Birthday of FCARC will be celebrated 9/7/24 at Harrison Lake State Park during OSPOTA. 

KB8ELG reports duplexers have been ordered from Bridgecom. Anticipated arrival time: approximately three weeks.

KB8ELG is exploring various means of bringing wireless internet to the primary repeater shed. As positive feedback has been obtained by FCHC, no final decision yet. 

Lifetime memberships. KG8FM submitted a proposition for Lifetime Membership Clause to be added to by-laws. If a member is 62 years old and/or on Social Security= lifetime membership. This is the second of three meetings for which this has been proposed. 

Discussion about the value of a Club, including its existence, Elmer services, privilege to serve within FCARC, benefit the community, opportunity to be an officer, fraternity, part of community to give back. 

Dues: should our rates increase? Average dues in OH ~$40/year. Should we keep dues at $15 + donation? Increase to $20/year? Rates have not increased in ~25 years.

KE8BHW proposed having a Technician Class. Discussion ensued.

VE Testing: The club gives testing at 10:00 am the last Saturday of each month at the Wauseon Administration Building Firemen's Training Room, 230 Clinton Street, Wauseon, OH 43567. A motion to adjourn was made by KE8VFR and seconded by KE8BHW all were in favor.  KB8ELG closed the meeting at 8:41pm
