Fulton County Amateur Radio Club Emergency Services Deployment Exercise
April 14, 2021

On April 14, 2021, at 8:00 P.M. the Fulton County Amateur Radio Club and the Emergency Services Net will be conducting a deployment exercise, in which we will attempt to cover the entire county. We are asking all hams to assist in this event if possible.

The purpose of this net is to test our repeaters, along with our individual equipment to make sure we are ready for an emergency, along with making sure we can cover the entire county. We will be doing this with not only mobile radios in our vehicles but will be working with HT’s as well. There will also be some exercises conducted on Simplex to simulate the repeaters being down.

Here is an outline of how this will work:

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG) with 18 members and guests in attendance on the 147.195+ k8bxq repeater.

VE Testing: KD8ZKE reported three interested in testing for March 27.

Hamfest Committee: The next FCARC sponsored Hamfest will be the summer trunk swap on June 5, 2021, followed by the Winter Hamfest on December 4, 2021. Both events have been registered with the ARRL.

Old Business:

• KD8ZKE is now officially the VE lead for the Fulton County VE Team.

• No further requests for assistance from the County EMA at this time for their Covid clinics, but we will be at the ready should our help be requested.

Our VE team will be resuming testing on the last Saturday of the month starting February 27, 2021. The location is set for the Fulton Masonic Lodge at 400 Main St in Delta Ohio.  Testing time is 9:00am.  Please visit the testing section of the k8bxq.org website for further details.

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG) with 24 members and guests in attendance on the 147.195+ k8bxq repeater.

Members in Distress: KA8KDS reported that his pacemaker procedure went as expected and he is feeling well. It was also reported that Bev Walworth’s (KC8UJC) mother Shirley M. Brown passed away, please keep her and George (N8EUY) in your thoughts.

Old Business: 

While we are saddened by the loss of KC8UOM, the radio club recognizes that it does have a responsibility to carry on conducting VE testing under the ARRL.  I want to thank John Myers, KD8ZKE, for taking up the task as Liaison to the ARRL VEC.  We should have everything in order this coming week and will be announcing the return of testing sessions shortly.
